The Sunday Times reports that Nigel Farage struck a secret deal to return as Reform UK leader months before the 2024 general election. The paper says Farage negotiated the pact in March and April of the year - undermining his claim that he had no intention of returning to politics until June 2024. The paper notes the date of Farage's return to politics has been raised amid questions over whether he needed to declare a £5m gift to Parliament. But it adds that Reform sources say the deal had been drafted for if, not when, Farage became leader.
The Independent continues its coverage of the border crisis at the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has accused EU countries of being "selfish" in their response after more than 60,000 people crossed the border from Morocco on Thursday.
