Nine ducklings needed a team of firefighters to leap into action after, while out for an evening walk, they got stuck down a drain.

The soggy rescue got under way on Monday at 18:25 BST when the crew were called to Godwin Way in Stoke-on-Trent.

The ducklings were spotted by a member of the public who, concerned, alerted the authorities to their plight,

Once the firefighters arrived, they lifted the drain cover away before all nine of the little ducklings were rescued and, in a happy ending, released in a nearby pond to be reunited with their mum.
