Hundreds set to pull Boeing 737 for charity

Teams will race to each pull the 35-tonne Boeing 737 aircraft 50m (164ft) at Bournemouth Airport

More than 30 teams are set to compete to pull a Boeing 737 aircraft in the fastest time to raise money for charity.

The Dorset Plane Pull at Bournemouth Airport will see 35 teams, each made up of about 20 members, pull the 35-tonne aircraft over a distance of 50m (164ft).

The event, which started in 2009, has raised £400,000 for charity and is now in its 17th year.

Organiser Richard Griffin said: "We're absolutely delighted to be returning for the Dorset Plane Pull in 2026. We have 20 amazing beneficiary charities involved this year and have more than 30 eager teams ready to take on the challenge."

Money raised this year will go to 20 charities.

Teams are due to start the pull at 10:00 BST on Monday.

The fastest pull recorded in the event's history is 25.70 seconds.

Trophies are also awarded for the best fancy dress, best team name and fastest pull time.
