A charity has bought the freehold of a pub at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes.

The Lakeside Pub was previously owned by Greene King, which announced in March that it planned to sell 150 venues.

The Parks Trust, which manages Willen Lake and other parks across Milton Keynes, acquired the site and said it would reveal its plans for it "in due course".

Rob Wood, executive director of Willen Lake, said: "We are still in the very early stages of exploring future possibilities and would ask the public to bear with us while the building remains closed for the time being."

The charity said the lake attracts more than one million visitors a year and already offers water sports, football pitches and walking routes.

UK Padel opened its fifth club at Willen Lake on Saturday, with four covered courts and two open-air courts.

Wood added: "Willen Lake has always been about bringing people together, so we're delighted to welcome UK Padel and give the people of Milton Keynes even more opportunities to be active and connect with others."
