Nominations open for ambulance staff award
NEASPeople have been asked to share their stories of North East ambulance staff whose care has had a meaningful impact on their lives.
Nominations for North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) employees will celebrate care "that went above and beyond expectations" in an awards ceremony next year.
This year's award was presented to Cheryl Lal, Claire Gilroy, Paul Renwick, Richard Jordan, Lucy March and Steven Allsopp who helped the family of eight-year-old Gracie-Leigh Marlow, who died following a severe asthma attack in 2024.
Gracie-Leigh's mum, Alana Monaghan, praised their "professionalism, compassion, and support during one of the most difficult days of her family's lives".
The awards aim to celebrate remarkable achievements and dedication of individuals and teams at the service.
NEAS added the Patient Choice award also offered "patients and families a chance to say thank you to the people who cared for them during some of the most challenging moments of their lives".
Head of culture and staff experience at NEAS, Victoria Wright, said: "If a member of our team has made a positive impact on you or someone you love, we'd encourage you to share your story."
NEAS is the only service in England to meet the level required for responding to the most urgent calls, according to NHS figures.
Nominations are open until 28 February, with a celebration event being held in summer 2027.
