Sainsbury's confirmed the High Street store had closed following an 'incident which involved a customer'

A Sainsbury's Local store in South Yorkshire has closed after reports part of its ceiling collapsed onto a customer.

Police were called to the store on High Street in Sheffield just after 12:00 BST on Monday, following reports of an "industrial accident".

The force confirmed the man had not been seriously injured.

Sainsbury's said the shop would remain closed as it "assesses the situation".

Police said it was "reported a part of the ceiling of a commercial premises collapsed, landing on a man".

In a statement, Sainsbury's confirmed the store had closed following an "incident which involved a customer".

Sainsbury's said: "Our colleagues were on hand to help and immediately called the emergency services, whilst taking care of the customer.

"The store will remain closed while we assess the situation."
