Man found dead after house fire

A man has died in a house fire in Nuneaton, West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed.

Emergency services attended the incident on Amos Avenue at 11:41am BST on Monday.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) said it was alerted to a fire at a two-storey semi-detached property and, on arrival, crews discovered a blaze on the ground floor.

"One man was found and sadly it became clear he could not be saved and he was confirmed dead at the scene," the ambulance service said.

WFRS said it sent two appliances, while two appliances from West Midlands Fire Service also attended the incident.

It said it is "normal practice for neighbouring services to support each other when responding to incidents in each other's service area".

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and crews remained at the scene for more than an hour.

The service added: "Sadly, a person died at this incident. Our thoughts and condolences go to their family."

Warwickshire Police told the BBC that, at this stage, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
