Cannabis worth £1.5m found in raid
BBCMore than a 1,200 cannabis plants worth an estimated £1.5m have been seized in Gainsborough, police said.
Officers discovered the plants in a building in Bridge Street on Tuesday.
The electricity fuse box was melting under the strain placed on it, creating an "extremely serious fire hazard", Lincolnshire Police said.
No arrests have been made, as officers continue their investigations. Anyone with information is asked to asked to contact them.
Police said electricity was illegally abstracted to power the operation, creating a serious risk to neighbouring properties.
Northern Powergrid engineers had to dig up a large section of road as part of their work to make the building safe, the force added.
Insp Michael Head, of the Gainsborough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The scale of what we discovered demonstrates that this was far from a small, personal cultivation.
"Operations of this size are often linked to organised criminality and can have a detrimental impact on our communities.
"What was particularly alarming was the condition of the electrical system inside the property.
"The demand being placed on the power supply was so great that fuse boxes had started to melt. This created an extremely serious fire hazard, putting neighbouring properties and members of the public at risk."
