A talent show celebrating local performers is being held in Scunthorpe.

Spotlight, which is in its third year, showcases "some of North Lincolnshire's most talented performers", according to organisers.

Thirteen acts will perform at the event at The Baths Hall, which will be hosted by Darren Johnson, better known in the community as Annie Fanny.

Johnson said the show had become a "standout community event", and local people had "taken it under their wing".

The evening will feature live performances, audience participation and guest judges

Organisers said the event aimed to give local people the chance to perform on a major stage, build confidence and showcase their talents in front of hundreds of people.

Johnson said: "There's an incredible amount of very talented people in the local area and surrounding areas, and we need to celebrate it.

"You can't beat a live experience," he added.

"You can sit in your bedroom and sing into your phone, but when the audience is less than a foot away from you and they can instantly react to what you're doing, that is quite a buzz."

Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Rob Waltham, said it was a "huge moment" for local performers to step out in front of a live audience.

"It is about giving residents a platform and celebrating the talent, creativity and confidence we have right here in North Lincolnshire," he added.

Spotlight will take place on Saturday 9 May from 19:00 BST at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe.
