Driver jailed after pedestrian injured in car meet
GooglePolice have issued a warning about illegal car meets after a man was jailed for his part in the serious injury of a pedestrian in a crash.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was hurt in a three-vehicle collision on the A421 Standing Way, Milton Keynes, during the meet on 21 January.
Ch Insp Jade Hewitt from Thames Valley Police said: "Unauthorised car meets and cruises can create significant risks, particularly when large numbers of people gather close to moving vehicles.
"Drivers have a responsibility to ensure their actions do not put others in danger, and spectators should be aware that situations can escalate in a split second."
Thames Valley PoliceIssac Osbourne-Walker, 28, of Goldington Road, Bedford, has been jailed for one year and four months for causing serious injury by careless driving.
He was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on 26 June after being found guilty during a four-day trial which concluded on 1 May.
The court heard he was driving a BMW M3 which was involved in a collision towards the Bottledump roundabout, on the A421 Standing Way.
Police said that the pedestrian received serious injuries as a result of Osbourne-Walker's careless driving.
Hewitt said the case demonstrated "how quickly lives can be changed as a result of careless driving".
She added they would "continue to work with our partners to tackle illegal and anti-social driving".
