Drug driving charge after woman's van crash death
Family handoutA man has appeared in court after a 79-year-old woman died following a crash.
Cheryl Decarteret and her best friend Margaret Shaw were standing on Lowbourne in Melksham, Wiltshire, on 27 September when they were involved in a collision with a van. Shaw was seriously injured and Decarteret died in hospital.
Harry Parsons, 25, of Roundpond in Melksham, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court earlier charged with two counts of drug driving.
His case was adjourned until 7 August and he was released on unconditional bail.
After Decarteret's death, her family described her as "loved and cherished by many" and said "she enjoyed spending time with her family".
Originally from Bradford-on-Avon, she grew up in Holt before moving to Melksham and working at Avon Rubber with Shaw.
