Road closed as police deal with rooftop incident
BBCA major road in Coventry was closed and drivers faced disruption while emergency services responded to an incident involving a man on the roof of a building.
Police were called to Foleshill Road at about 14:00 BST on Tuesday and remained at the scene for several hours alongside other emergency services.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are currently on Foleshill Road along with other emergency services due to a man being on the roof of a building.
"Officers are talking to the man in an effort to bring the incident to a safe conclusion." The road reopened at about 17:30, according to the council.
One witness, who did not want to be named, described the incident as "shocking".
"One minute I'm having my lunch, then I'm looking out my window to see about seven police officers and a man on a roof," they told the BBC.
Traffic service Inrix said Foleshill Road was closed between Blue Ribbon roundabout and Churchill Avenue, with diversions in place.
Bus route 148 was also diverted.
West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "We were called to an incident on Foleshill Road in Coventry at 14:57 BST and sent a specialist paramedic and a paramedic officer to the scene."
