Traffic has been stopped on the A46 in Nottinghamshire due to a lorry fire.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from five stations were sent to the large fire on the southbound carriageway shortly after 11:00 BST on Thursday.

National Highways said traffic was stopped in both directions between the B6166 Farndon and the A6097 Newton.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said the northbound carriageway had reopened.

The spokesperson for the fire service added: "Please avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.

"We also ask that you do not fly drones above or near to the emergency incident."
