Kenneth and Carl Richardson were sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday

A man and his nephew have been jailed for non-recent sex offences against teenage girls.

Kenneth Richardson, 43, had previously admitted five charges, including one of rape, against three girls who were aged between 13 and 15 at the time.

His co-defendant and nephew, 32-year-old Carl Richardson, was himself convicted of one count of rape and two charges of sexual assault against one of the girls, following a trial.

Kenneth Richardson, of Adwick le Street in Doncaster, was sentenced to 15 years and eight months at Sheffield Crown Court earlier, while Carl Richardson, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to six years and nine months.

Investigating officer Gary Rawlings, of South Yorkshire Police, said the survivors' "extreme courage" had helped to ensure both men were jailed.

He said: "All three victims put their fear of reliving this horrific offending aside and bravely testified in court.

"This has been a lengthy case, with no CCTV or forensic evidence to secure a quick conviction, the accounts of the victims are the reason these men are now facing a significant time behind bars."
