Plans lodged for 60-bed care home in town

Plans have been lodged to build a 60-bed care home in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Synergy Care Developments Ltd has submitted a planning application to North West Leicestershire District Council to build the care home on land next to Warner Road.

Planning documents state the proposed home would form part of a new neighbourhood being built on the edge of Ashby-de-la-Zouch by housebuilders Bloor and Taylor Wimpey.

According to plans, the proposed care home would be between two to three storeys high, and would offer residents a cafe, hair salon, pub, cinema, communal lounge and dining facilities.

Documents state the site comprises of empty land, which has been cleared of buildings and Japanese Knotweed.

The applicant stated the proposals were "considered important in delivering committed provision to meet the housing needs of older people".

The council's website states it aims to make a decision on the proposals by 2 November.
