No explosive devices found after car bomb scare
BBCNo explosive devices were found following a bomb scare involving a parked car in a residential street.
Homes were evacuated in Sherwood Avenue, Poole, on Friday evening amid reports the car contained an explosive device.
Dorset Police said an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called but, after making the scene safe, established it was not a viable explosive device and did not pose a risk to the public.
It said officers also searched a property in Park Homer Drive in Colehill, near Wimborne, and found no explosive devices. No arrests were made and investigations continue.
Officers initially visited a property in Sherwood Avenue following reports that a nearby parked car contained "offensive weapons and other suspicious items" before the discovery at 22:20 GMT.
A police spokesperson said: "A cordon was put in place as a precaution for the safety of members of the public. This included the evacuation of properties in the immediate vicinity.
"The suspected device was examined by EOD experts and subsequently made safe.
"Once the thorough process was completed evacuated residents were able to return to their homes."
Police said searches continued throughout Sunday but had now concluded.
"We would like to thank those affected for their patience and understanding and offer reassurance that there is no information to indicate any wider risk to the public," the spokesperson said.
