Lives 'put at risk' after dog causes cow stampede

People's lives were "put at risk" after a dog "chased and harassed" a herd of cattle resulting in a stampede, according to the police.

Suffolk Police said a loose husky allegedly ran after cows for an "extended period" at Sudbury Water Meadows at about 11:40 BST on Sunday.

Livestock worrying is a criminal offence and the force appealed for anyone with information to contact it.

"A herd of cattle were chased and harassed for an extended period by a loose husky type dog, causing them to stampede, putting members of the public at risk," a spokesperson said.

"This is another unfortunate reminder that some dog owners need to be more responsible and keep their dogs under close control around livestock."
