MP pushing to address 'public health hazard'
Sureena BrackenridgeAn MP has vowed to track down the owner of a piece of land in Wolverhampton which has become "a public health hazard" due to fly-tipping.
Sureena Brackenridge posted photos of the huge pile of waste in the Heath Town area of the city, including a gated up passage between houses and allotments on Leslie Road.
The MP for Wolverhampton North East said she had spoken to people in the allotments about their concerns, who showed her around the site.
Addressing the rubbish, the MP said: "It's probably been piling up since the 80s; it was certainly there when I lived nearby in the 90s."
Sureena BrackenridgeShe said her office would follow up with the council to determine "who actually owns the land, and push whoever is responsible to finally address this public health hazard."
She also reported fly-tipping on Shawbury Road, saying she used the Love Clean Streets App to do so.
City of Wolverhampton Council has been cracking down on fly-tippers by sharing online to identify offenders.
The Shop a Tipper scheme sees details of incidents shared with people living in the postcode where the offence has been committed.
