A wildfire broke out engulfing an area of grass and gorse land.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service attended the blaze off the A591 at Staveley, alongside three wildfire units and one enhanced rescue unit just after 21:00 BST on Wednesday.

The fire was across 400 sq m (4,305 sq ft) of land.

It took about three hours and 20 minutes to put out the fire, the service said.

The BBC has asked the fire service what caused the blaze.

Pete Hamilton said he took sandwiches up to the crew afterwards and made sure they were ok "after working so hard in such fierce conditions".
