Bumpy estate road to be completed five years on
LDRSA piece of unfinished road that residents have described as "a nightmare" will finally be completed after more than five years, a councillor has said.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service said a "severe bump" was left at the entrance to the new estate on Allen Road in Waddington, Lincolnshire, after the original contractors used by developers Jelson went out of business.
Councillor Tom Dyer said the company had committed to finding a new contractor and the work would "hopefully" be completed by the end of the year.
The company said: "Jelson Ltd are aware of the remedial work required to the estate road off Grantham Road. We remain committed to completing these works as quickly as possible."
Tammy McGuire, who lives near the unfinished road, said: "It's been a nightmare. People have been telling the developer you'll get the bills if our cars break.
"I've lived here for five years, and people have been waiting for it to be finished even longer than that.
"It used to be a severe bump, which wasn't at all good for your suspension.
"Someone put sand against the bump so it wasn't as bad, and then eventually some proper tarmac was laid, but it needs finishing properly."
Councillor Tom Dyer, who represents the area on Lincolnshire County Council, said: "There's a real bump there – residents get jolted every time they go in or out of the estate.
"It's been like that since before I became a councillor in 2021, and people have been more than patient with the issue.
"There's been a long complaints process from me and residents and I'm glad Jelson has finally agreed to move forward.
"They are currently securing quotes from contractors and will hopefully have the work finished by Christmas."
He said a section of footpath between Cole Avenue and the village hall would also need to be rebuilt.
