Police put a cordon in place at Stanley Park while inquiries into the woman's death continued

The body of a woman has been found in Stanley Park in Liverpool.

Officers were called at about 17:25 BST on Friday after a member of the public contacted Merseyside Police.

The force said it was working to identify the woman and was treating her death as unexplained. A cordon was put in place around the park while CCTV and witness inquiries were carried out.

Police said a Home Office post-mortem examination was due to take place to establish the cause of death.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police.
