Judges confirm Make a Difference 2026 finalists
BBCThe shortlist of the BBC Radio Jersey Make a Difference finalists has been announced.
Independent judges selected four nominees that they believed highlighted the best of work that helped others in the island for 2026.
They include people who help survivors of domestic abuse, an African support charity which promotes diversity and inclusion, a physiotherapy academy and an organisation which helps improve the physical and mental wellbeing of older people.
The overall winner is due to be announced on 18 September.
Judge Marcus Liddiard, from the Association of Jersey Charities, said: "We've been very lucky to have had such a great selection to choose from."
Fellow judge and leader of the Islamic community Dr Safraz Jamali added: "It's been a great honour, but it is not an easy task at all."

The shortlist is:
- Strive Academy for the physiotherapy work it has done with people such as Lily McGarry
- Friends of Africa Jersey for the charity's work promoting diversity and inclusion in the island
- Laugh, Move & Groove for helping improve the physical and mental wellbeing of older people in Jersey
- Suzie Mahe for her campaigning to improve rights and raise awareness for survivors of domestic abuse like herself
Liddiard and Jamali were joined by Lisa Mansell from Jersey Youth Service and former England Netball captain and now Senator Serena Kresten to pick out the final shortlist from more than 90 nominations.
Liddiard said: "We've had some amazing applications... it's been very varied so we've had to find our way through it.
"We all know that Jersey is an incredibly giving island... and this is a great example of islanders giving money, time and effort to the rest of the island."
Dr Jamali added: "Recognising how we help each other not only helps the local people – it helps the local community by making people feel welcome and supported."
