Ex-NHS worker to face trial on stalking charges

A former staff member at a mental health hospital is accused of sexually assaulting and stalking a colleague.

Gary Farquharson, of Cheltenham, was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty at Gloucester Crown Court to two charges of sexual assault between June 2025 and February 2026 and a charge of stalking between September 2024 and June 2026.

BBC News understands Farquharson, 59, was suspended from Wotton Lawn Hospital in Gloucester when the allegations first emerged and he does not work in a clinical or nursing role.

Farquharson will face trial at Gloucester Crown Court in February next year.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Trust said: "The health, safety and well-being of trust colleagues is of paramount importance and we are supporting the female colleague affected."
