A man has been taken to hospital after being rescued from the River Nith in Dumfries.

Emergency services were called out to reports of concern for a man at the town's Buccleuch Street Bridge at about 08:00.

"The man was recovered by police officers in the water," said a police statement.

"He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment."
