A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead.

Emergency services were called to a property in Whinlatter Way, Carlisle, at 23:23 BST on Sunday to a report of a sudden death, Cumbria Police said.

The woman, also in her 60s, was declared dead at the scene.

The force said there would be an increased police presence in the area while the inquiry was ongoing.
