People in Jersey have been warned to be prepared for "tropical nights" and "very hot" day temperatures.

Jersey Met predicted temperatures could soar to 31C (88F) or more on Sunday, and 34C (93F) or higher on Monday.

It added the island would have "tropical nights" with the temperature not falling below 20C (68F) on Sunday and Monday.

Public Health Jersey advised people to stay indoors during the hottest time of the day, and postpone strenuous activities until cooler times in the day.

It urged people to drink plenty of water, and avoid coffee and alcohol, and take cool baths and showers.

Jersey sweltered in May with its first five-day spell of temperatures of at least 30C (86F).

Temperatures peaked at 34.2C (93.56F) on Tuesday, 26 May.

Other tips included shutting curtains to keep the heat out, opening windows, and using fans.

People should also wear a hat, loose light clothing, and use sunscreen with a minimum sun protection factor (SPF) of 30.
