Murder inquiry launched after death of man found injured in street

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the death of man found injured in an Ayrshire street.

Graham Milliken was discovered lying unresponsive on Main Street in Dundonald at about 04:05 on Sunday.

Milliken, 57, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock but later died. His family have been informed.

Police Scotland said the murder investigation was launched following a post-mortem examination. A 36-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death and is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Det Insp Jamie Carruth said officers would remain in the area while they carried out inquiries.

He appealed for anyone with dashcam or doorbell camera footage to get in touch and share it with police.
