Royal Norfolk Show reveals 'togetherness' song
James Bass PhotographyOrganisers of an agricultural show have said this year's event will have "more music, movement, creativity and celebration" as their unveiled its own theme song.
Called Umoja - meaning "togetherness" in Swahili - it will be performed by schoolchildren, instrumentalists and dancers at the Royal Norfolk Show on 24 and 25 June.
The annual event traditionally showcases farming and food, with Umoja celebrating "unity, pride and community spirit across the county" for the show's theme of culture and collaboration.
"It is amazing to have a theme song that reflects exactly what [the show] wants to do - bringing schools and cultural groups together," said vocalist Obase Aboli, who appears on the track by Addictive TV.
"It's made up of samples of bagpipes, tabla from India, percussion from Brazil, Africa, a combination of instruments from all over the world.
"That is what the Norfolk show is doing in three weeks - a carnival of groups from UK, Cuba, from Africa, from all over the world - it fits perfectly."
Rob Sykes/BBCThe show will feature a Carnival of Cultures procession on both days, featuring - among others - the African Choir of Norfolk, salsa and samba groups and hundreds of school children.
It will culminate in a performance of Umoja in the grand ring "in a vibrant, colourful and joyous finale", the show said.
"Our theme of culture and collaboration reflects the power of people working together across generations, sectors and communities," said Mark Nicholas, chief executive of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association.
"This year's show will demonstrate how partnership, innovation and shared ambition can shape a thriving countryside for years to come."
