Peregrine falcon chick hatches at university
Nottingham Trent University/Nottinghamshire Wildlife TrustThe first peregrine falcon chick of the year has hatched at Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, which manages the nest box in partnership with the university, announced the arrival in a social media post on Wednesday.
Two peregrine falcon eggs have been laid this year at the nest at NTU's Newton Building, the university added.
A webcam monitoring the birds and their chicks was set up in 2012.
The arrival of the chick has come almost two years after mum P9 and dad Archie's first egg in 2024.
The breeding season for peregrine falcons runs from March to September.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust said: "So excited to have our first chick of the season - we're sure everyone is looking forward to more hatching - and watching them grow."
