CPS considering charges over fatal crash

Police investigating a fatal school coach crash have passed a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to consider charges.

Oliver Price, 10, died from a head injury in July when a coach carrying pupils and staff from Minehead Middle School crashed near Wheddon Cross on Exmoor while travelling back from a school trip.

A total of 21 other people were taken to hospital - all of whom have since been discharged.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said other lines of enquiry are still being pursued.

The force said: "A file was submitted to the CPS earlier this year to consider a charging decision as part of our investigation into last July's collision on the A396.

"The family of Oliver Price – and the other affected families – have been updated, and further lines of enquiry are being actively pursued in line with guidance from the CPS."

A hearing at Wells Coroner's Court last July heard Oliver had been found in his seat with his seatbelt on, and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
