A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire destroyed a former care home.

About 60 firefighters from 13 fire stations were sent to the detached property between Liss, Hampshire, and Rake, West Sussex, at about 23:15 BST on Tuesday.

Fire crews spent more than 22 hours on the scene. The B2070 London Road was closed for a lengthy period, police said.

An 18-year-old man from Portsmouth remains in custody, detectives added.

The derelict building, which had three floors, partially collapsed, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service previously reported.

It has been cordoned off and will be guarded because of concerns over its stability, the service added.
