Teen accused of seafront rape said sex 'consensual'
BBCA teenager accused of raping a woman in a beachside toilet told police the sex was "consensual".
A jury at Bournemouth Crown Court, heard Mohammed Abdullah told officers the woman wanted to hug him which then led to sex.
Mark Eldridge, prosecuting, told the court, the woman had been out with friends in Bournemouth before walking home alone along the seafront, where she came across the defendant who offered to give her a lift home on his e-bike.
The 19-year-old, from West Drayton, west London, denies rape and assault by penetration in the early hours of 6 July 2025.
The court heard that in a police interview, Abdullah said the complainant called after him as he stopped to go to the toilet and said that she wanted to hug him which led to sex which was consensual.
He said: "When she came to us we were there sitting by the beach and she wanted to go home.
"I had the bike so I thought I could help her by giving her a lift on the bike. We took the bike. I saw the toilet cubicle, I said 'wait, I want to go to the toilet'.
"As I was going towards the toilet she shouted at me, or spoke loudly to me, she said 'come' and she wanted to hug me.
"When she hugged me she put her hand on my penis and kisses me. At this point I was excited, I said 'Do you want to', she said 'Yes', so we exchanged kisses and what happened, happened."
The defendant then described having sex inside the portable toilet, which he said was "consensual".
The trial continues.
