Child abuse accusations 'disgusting', Snooker champion Dott tells trial
PA MediaSnooker player Graeme Dott has said allegations that he abused a boy and a girl are "disgusting", during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
The former world champion denied "ever acting inappropriately with anyone" as he appeared in the dock over charges from1993 and 2010.
The court heard claims that Dott, 49, molested the boy in a shower then later "rewarded" him with money, crisps and fizzy drinks.
His alleged victim, now a man in his 20s, said abuse began when he was eight years old, shortly after Dott won the world title at The Crucible in 2006.
He claimed the shower incident took place at a house in South Lanarkshire and that Dott removed some of his own clothing before "inappropriately touching" him.
He described it as "opportunistic" and claimed Dott got sexual gratification from it.
The man said the attacks happened "six or seven times" and that Dott was nice to him afterwards.
He said Dott would buy him food and drinks, and following one incident, gave him £50 which he took to a local shop.
The shopkeeper questioned where he got the money and the boy's parents were informed - with Dott then suggesting the boy had stolen the money.
The man told jurors it was a "reward strategy" for the abuse.
He also said Dott was inappropriate with him in a room while he played online poker games.
PA MediaDott appeared in the dock following the man's testimony.
He said he was never alone with the boy and said he "100% denied" abusing children for his own gratification.
He was also questioned on accusations made earlier in the trial by the girl.
She had claimed Dott "caressed" her bottom while giving her a piggyback and had separately exposed himself to her.
Police previously contacted him about the allegations in 2001, but no charges were made. The woman gave a new statement to police in 2025.
Asked if he had ever behaved inappropriately towards the girl, Dott said: "I have never acted inappropriately with anyone."
He denied claims he had been "sexually attracted" to the girl and said her allegations were "lies".
Dott denies charges of lewd and libidinous behaviour towards the two children between 1993 and 2010. The trial before Lord Harrower continues.
