Child hit by car near secondary school

A child has been injured after being hit by a car near a secondary school in Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Police were called shortly before 15:30 BST to Goldhay Way, near Ormiston Bushfield Academy.

Officers remained at the scene and the road was partially blocked.

Kirsty Knight, Conservative councillor for Orton Waterville, said it was "extremely worrying... speeding along Goldhay Way had become a concern for residents".

"While we need to allow the police to establish what happened, I believe we need to look again at road safety along Goldhay Way and what more can be done to keep the community safe," she said.

Police said the child had minor injuries.
