Grimsby is heading back to the Middle Ages with a day of events highlighting the town's medieval history.

Visitors to the free event - called Medieval Grimsby - will be able to see historical artefacts from the era as well trying traditional crafts and watching a demonstration of coin making.

There will be a chance to make masks and also a workshop inspired by the stained glass in Grimsby Minster.

Performances at Medieval Grimsby will include a jester roaming the streets, a harpist playing music and storytelling.

It takes place in a number of venues across the town centre, including at the Minster.

As well as the activities visitors will be asked for their ideas on how to develop the historical part of the town.

One of the organisers Paula Denton said: "Grimsby has such a fascinating history, and there's so much more to discover about the town's medieval past.

"We've brought together some wonderful artists, performers and historians who will help people explore that history in a really enjoyable and hands-on way.
