Man charged with attempted murder after cyclist hit by car

A man has been charged in connection with attempted murder after a car struck a cyclist in Aberdeen.

Emergency crews were called to the scene near the junction of Rousay Drive and Lang Stracht, close to the Tesco supermarket, after the 19-year-old rider was hit by a white BMW car at about 18:00 on Friday.

The cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment. A 37-year-old man was arrested over the incident and has now been charged.

He is scheduled to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday. Police have launched an appeal for further information.
