Baby born during Harry Potter screening has 'Cineworld' on birth certificate
Molly ConnahA woman gave birth in a cinema after going into labour in the middle of a movie, with the newborn's birth certificate officially recording the unusual place of birth.
Molly Connah, 32, had been overdue by a day when she took her nine-year-old son Alfie to see Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Baby Elsie Lamb was born in the Cineworld at Broughton, Flintshire, with staff assisting and paramedics arriving moments later.
Molly said the whole family had been in "complete utter shock" at the 7lb (3.2kg) arrival.
Molly ConnahMolly said that when she went to register the newborn, she was asked where the baby was born.
"We had to say Cineworld in Broughton, and it does say on her birth certificate, Cineworld Broughton," she said.
Molly went to the cinema with her parents and Alfie on 28 August, the day after her due date, having attended a midwife appointment for a sweep earlier that afternoon.
But about 40 to 45 minutes into the film, the labour pains began.
Molly said: "I can remember the scene I was watching when I walked out. It was when Hagrid and Harry are buying his stuff to go to Hogwarts.
"I thought, 'something doesn't feel right'. It was getting more and more intense, and I didn't want anything to go wrong.
"At that point I think my body just went into shock and it was pure adrenalin."
Cineworld manager Michelle McClean and team leader Leah Prytherch were among those who helped as staff called 999 and gathered towels and sheets.
Molly said: "The staff at Cineworld and Starbucks were absolutely amazing.
"They shielded me with towels and sheets so no-one could see. They were absolutely amazing."
Describing the moment she gave birth, she said: "I said to my mum, 'I feel like I need to push,' and she said, 'you can't'.
"I said, 'I can't, I need to. I've got to'. Two pushes and my daughter was out."
Molly gave birth to Elsie Lamb at 16:57 BST.
There were no medical professionals present at the moment Elsie arrived, with Molly's mum picking her granddaughter up and placing her on Molly's chest.
A rapid response paramedic arrived moments later.
GoogleMolly's partner Scott arrived seconds after his daughter had been born, having tried to call Molly three times while she was giving birth.
Molly was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital in one ambulance while Scott accompanied Elsie in another.
Molly said both she and Elsie are doing well, with the newborn described as a "really contented baby".
The family have since returned to Cineworld to thank the staff who helped them, taking chocolates, gifts and a card.
They were also given four cinema passes after missing the end of the Harry Potter film and hope to return to finish their unusual family outing.
