Reform MS Sarah Cooper-Lesadd plans to defect to Plaid Cymru

Plaid Cymru's ruling body is meeting Tuesday afternoon to discuss the defection of a Reform MS to the party, BBC Wales understands.

Sarah Cooper-Lesadd is understood to have been unhappy with Nigel Farage's party for some time, as well as some of the rhetoric used by some of its members.

BBC Wales was told the decision is subject to approval by Plaid's national executive committee.

Cooper-Lesadd's move will leave Reform with 33 seats in the Welsh Parliament, and if agreed would mean Plaid have 44.

Reform and Plaid Cymru been asked to comment.

Cooper-Lesadd was first elected in May to serve the Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg constituency.

Former Conservative Cooper-Lesadd was initially selected for Reform's list in Afan Ogwr Rhondda for the May election.

This changed after the party lost a number of candidates in Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg.
