Apartment block evacuated after water leak

A number of people have been evacuated from an apartment block in Nottingham after a water leak impacted the building's lifts and fire alarm systems.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was made aware of the leak at Cranbrook House, in Cranbrook Street, on Friday and began evacuating residents at about 00:00 BST on Saturday.

The leak was across three floors of the building, the fire service added.

Residents were taken to St Mary's Church on High Pavement and have since been moved to Loxley House.

Nottinghamshire Police said it was called to help the fire service with the evacuation and closed Cranbrook Street between Lennox Street and Goose Gate.

The road was reopened at 03:07 BST on Saturday.
