Police are appealing for information after a pregnant heifer was stolen from a farm.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the Ayrshire cross pedigree heifer, which weighed about 550kg (1,210lb), was taken from Deptford Farm, near Pennymoor and Nomansland, near Tiverton in east Devon.

Officers said there were concerns for the wellbeing of the red and white heifer because she was pregnant when she was stolen at some point during the last month. The heifer was one of more than 350 cows kept at the farm, they added.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
