Teenager arrested after girl, 17, raped on path

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault, police have confirmed.

Northamptonshire Police said a 17-year-old girl was raped on the path beside the River Nene on Trenery Way, Northampton, between 01:00 and 04:00 BST on Sunday.

The arrest was made on Monday evening. The man has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The force has asked anyone with information to contact them.
