Delve into city's rich history at library events
City of Wolverhampton CouncilThe history of Wolverhampton will be celebrated in a series of heritage-themed events at its Central Library in the coming months.
An illustrated presentation about Wolves' past, from Kevin Harris, ahead of the club's 150th anniversary in 1877, will be held from 11:00 BST on Saturday, the council said.
In tours on 17 September, people could see behind the scenes of the Grade II* listed library, explore its "hidden corners" and uncover stories that have "shaped it for more than a century".
Events include a fully-booked taster session for a regular Blue Plaque Walk from the library on 2 July, sharing stories of famous faces associated with buildings in the city centre.
Harris runs regular walks in return for a £10 donation towards projects he is working on, including new gravestones or the repairs of graves of Wolves founders and players.
Wolverhampton's Great War Railwaymen – A War-Walk will commemorate railway workers and their contribution to the war effort in a walk with Quintin Watt on Remembrance Day on 11 November.
At the time of World War One, three railway companies operated in Wolverhampton - the Great Western Railway, the London and North Western Railway and the Midland Railway, the council said.
Employees from each enlisted and about 11% of them did not come home.
The walk will visit places where 16 of these Wolverhampton men lived, worked or are commemorated.
