Police responded to the stabbing in Angel Row on Friday afternoon

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after a man was stabbed in Nottingham city centre.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to reports of the attack in Angel Row at about 15:15 BST on Friday.

They arrived to find a man had suffered stab wounds, and he was treated at the scene. His condition is currently not known.

A boy has since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. A knife has also been discovered and seized from the scene, police added.

Road closures have been put in place in Angel Row and Beastmarket Hill while an investigation takes place.

Insp Andy Wilson said: "Our first thoughts remain with the person injured in this incident.

"While I can confirm that a suspect has been identified and arrested, we are still in the very early stages of this investigation.

"Our inquiries are therefore still very much ongoing, so we'd ask anyone who saw what happened, thinks they know who was involved, or has any other information, to please share this with us immediately."
