Several train services have been cancelled due to engineering works

People planning to travel by train across the West this Bank Holiday weekend have been "strongly advised" to check before they set off as some disruption is forecast.

Engineering works will see the line closed between Chippenham in Wiltshire and Bath Spa in Somerset on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Replacement buses will be put on.

As a result of the line closure, trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads will also be impacted. Some will travel only as far as Swindon or Chippenham, or as far as Bath Spa in some cases, while others will not run at all.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said: "Passengers are strongly advised to check their journeys before travelling."

Some GWR train services will also be disrupted on Monday.

The 05:10 BST scheduled Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington service will not run.

The 05:31BST Bedwyn to London Paddington service has also been cancelled.

According to National Rail, these changes have been caused by early morning engineering work.
