Swimming pool closed to 'diarrhoea incident'

A town's main swimming pool has been closed due to a "diarrhoea incident" in the water.

Basildon Sporting Village, in Essex, said in a statement on social media that the pool would be closed until 06:00 BST on Sunday.

It said customers with existing bookings were being contacted directly, adding that its teaching pool remained open and lessons would be relocated to the additional pool over the weekend.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding," its statement added.
