Remote GP phone services to be rolled out
BBCA remote GP telephone service is expanding to more practices across the Isle of Man from this week.
Patients will still contact their practice as normal, with a triage process deciding who is offered a phone consultation and face-to-face appointments still being arranged when needed.
The service follows a successful pilot in Ramsey.
Manx Care said the approach could mean quicker access to medical advice, medication reviews and ongoing support for patients who do not need a physical examination, without having to attend the practice in person.
How it works
Patients contacting a participating practice will be assessed through the usual triage process.
Those whose concerns can be safely managed remotely may be offered a telephone consultation with a GP.
Anyone who does need a face-to-face appointment will have one arranged through their practice.
Which practices, and when?
Ramsey Group Practice – service already running
Peel Group Practice – from 28 August
Kensington Group Practice – from 4 September
Snaefell Surgery – from 9 September
Finch Hill Medical Centre – from 11 September
Palatine Group Practice – from 15 September
Manx Care said further practices may join in future, with registered patients being informed directly.
