Armed gang stole cars, knives and games console

Members of a gang who broke into homes armed with machetes and threatened the occupants have been jailed.

Mohammed Ramirez, Junior Yawli, Nathan Evans and Sebastian Kandrac carried out the two burglaries at addresses in Coventry on 23 July 2025.

As well as attacking a man in one of the properties, they also stole kitchen knives and a games console. They escaped in two cars belonging to their victims.

Yawli, Ramirez and Evans were jailed at Warwick Crown Court on 15 July, while Kandrac was sentenced on Wednesday.

The gang first broke into a home in Earlsdon at about 01:00 BST, smashing their way through the front door and threatening those inside with a machete before they ran off when the victims called 999.

Less than a hour later, they broke into a second address in Wyken and punched a man inside, before demanding money from him.

They then stole kitchen knives and a games console before escaping in two cars belonging to the victim.

The group were caught after a police helicopter spotted the stolen cars travelling in convoy about 40 minutes later.

Following a pursuit, during which one of the vehicles went the wrong way down the A446, the group were stopped by armed officers, before the weapons and stolen items were recovered.

Yawli, 20, of Parry Road, Coventry, was jailed for 11 years and two months after being found guilty of two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

Ramirez, 26, of Kenilworth Road, Birmingham, was jailed for nine years having been found guilty of two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

Evans, 26, of Dudhill Road, Rowley Regis, was jailed for six years and six months after he was found guilty of one count of aggravated burglary and two of theft of a motor vehicle.

Kandrac, 20, of Normandy Road, Birmingham, was jailed for six years and three months after pleading guilty on 25 September, to two counts of aggravated burglary and one count of aggravated vehicle taking.

Following the hearing, Det Sgt Jay Aston, from West Midlands Police, said he was pleased with the sentences the gang received.

"These individuals brought terror to the doorsteps of innocent residents, brandishing weapons without a second thought.

"I am proud of my team who worked around the clock to bring justice to the victims and their families", he added.
