M50 carriageway reopens after large field fire

One side of the M50 was closed due to a "large fire" in a field neighbouring the motorway and another on a nearby embankment.

The westbound carriageway was closed between junction eight of the M5 junction two, for Ledbury, due to the fire in a field, National Highways said, as smoke was blowing across the carriageway.

While six fire engines were sent to the other scene near junction one, near Ripple, at 15:23 BST, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said.

No injuries were reported and the cause was not yet known, they added. The carriageway reopened just before 18:30.
