Resident fined for 'smelly' rubbish in street
City of Wolverhampton CouncilA Wolverhampton man has been fined after a pile of nappies, food waste and prescription medication was found dumped on land in the city.
Documentation discovered in the rubbish located in Coleman Street, which had also started to smell, identified Onoriu Batista.
He was confirmed as the occupant of a nearby property in that road, the city council said.
He later failed to appear for a council interview and was convicted of failing to comply with requests for assistance at Dudley Magistrates' Court, in his absence on Friday.
He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264 and full prosecution costs of £1,172.54 which will be reinvested into the authority's environmental crime service.
"This was a very unpleasant case of dumped waste for our officers to investigate but we will not stop in our efforts to track these thoughtless criminals down," councillor Qaiser Azeem, cabinet member for resident services at the council, said.
