A seasonal bus service has returned for 2026, giving passengers from Hull and East Yorkshire the chance to visit the North York Moors.

Funded by Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the Moorsbus M1 service runs every Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday until Sunday 27 September.

It is run by community interest company Moorsbus, with East Yorkshire Buses providing a double-decker for the M1 route.

According to officials, 2,249 passengers used the service between May and September 2025, with more than 1,300 of those journeys starting from Hull and the East Riding.

The return service departs from Hull Paragon Interchange, stopping at Cottingham, Beverley, Driffield, Wetwang, Malton and Pickering. Passengers can then change to the M3 service, which stops at Kirkbymoorside, Hutton-Le-Hole and Danby.

Hull City Council's cabinet met in April to authorise part-funding of £7,500 for the service, according to a council agenda.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has been approached about its share of the funding.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said the service had proved to be "extremely popular", leading to the 2026 service being expanded to include Saturdays.

Meanwhile, Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure, tourism and planning at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "This is another bus route that passengers in the East Riding and Hull can benefit from and explore what our neighbouring county has to offer."
